Most Americans Have Sex in Public, Adam & Eve Study Finds

A recent survey by Adam & Eve finds 52 percent of adults admit they’ve had sex in public.

Respondents, who were allowed to choose multiple answers, admit their top locations are parked cars (80 percent), the woods (55 percent), a park (44 percent), beach (42 percent), and workplace office (25 percent). Public bathrooms (22 percent), movie theater (16 percent), airplane (7 percent), church (5 percent) and taxi (2 percent) followed.

In addition, more than 600 Adam & Eve Facebook followers said they’d enjoyed sex in public.

Of those, 30 percent did not specify where, 25 percent said parked cars, 22 percent said in the woods, 8 percent chose on the beach, 6 percent chose workplace office, 5 percent said public bathroom, 3 percent said movie theater, 2 percent chose park, and less than 1 percent each said airplane, church or taxi.

Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve’s resident sex expert, finds these numbers encouraging.

“Sex in public can add a sense of adventure to routine lovemaking habits,” Dr. Van Kirk said. “I’m happy to see so many couples keeping sex exciting, although I do encourage adults to be discreet and keep their erotic encounters far from prying eyes.”

Chad Davis, Adam & Eve’s director of marketing, agrees.

“While I was surprised at the high number of adults who enjoy sex in public, I am pleased that American adults are still finding the thrill in sex by trying new things,” he said.

The web-based survey was conducted by an independent third-party survey company, quering more than 1,000 American adults age 18 and up.

Adam & Eve Poll: Most Prefer Missionary Position

When it comes to sex, most adults still prefer the missionary position, according to a recent poll conducted by Adam & Eve.

The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third-party survey company of more than 1,000 American adults, was designed to study sexual preferences and practices.

The missionary position garnered a 32 percent vote, followed by rear-entry (23 percent) and cowgirl (22 percent). The 69 position was favored by 7 percent of respondents, followed by spooning (6 percent) and reverse cowgirl (4 percent). Three percent of those surveyed chose “other” and 3 percent preferred not to say.

When Adam & Eve Facebook followers were asked to rate their favorite positions, there was a marked difference in their preference, the company said.

The overwhelming majority of these Adam & Eve customers prefer rear-entry position (53 percent), followed by cowgirl (29 percent), reverse cowgirl (6 percent), other (6 percent), and missionary (6 percent).

“It’s interesting that while Adam & Eve customers may be a bit more adventurous when it comes to sexual matters, the average American still seems to prefer face-to-face intimacy,” said Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve’s resident sex expert. “Both of the top choices [missionary and rear entry] allow for more male control while the second choice [cowgirl], puts the woman in control. I believe there’s some give and take there.

Adam & Eve Survey Finds ‘Tis Better To Give AND Receive

When it comes to American adults’ sexual practices — oral sex, in particular, Adam & Eve’s survey found that most adults are all for it.

Adam & Eve’s “Great American Sex Survey” asked over 1,000 American adults how they felt about both giving and receiving oral sex. Over 66% of the respondents reported enjoying giving oral sex, and over 79% said they enjoyed receiving it.

“While there is some discrepancy between those who enjoy performing the act and those who enjoy receiving it, overall these results show that most adults consider oral sex to be a healthy, positive and important part of sexuality,” says Chad Davis, Marketing Director for Adam & Eve.

Additionally, the survey revealed that 25% of those polled said they sometimes get enjoyment from performing oral sex on their partners. Seven percent of respondents said they did not enjoy giving oral sex, and 2% said they had never done it.

With receiving oral sex, 15% of the respondents reported they sometimes enjoy it, 4% said they do not enjoy it, and 2% said they had never been on the receiving end.

“Adam & Eve encourages American adults to add oral sex to their erotic repertoire,” says Davis. “It’s encouraging to us that this survey shows that most adults find it an acceptable part of their lovemaking.”

The web-based survey, conducted by Cvent, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.

Texting in bed

AdAge.com recently published an article based on a report by Retrevo Gadgetology measuring the strength of social media’s grip on people’s lives. Twenty-four percents of under-25-year-olds admitted to texting while on the toilet — ok, nothing wrong with that …some people need distractions.

“Retrevo found that almost half of social-media users check in via phone while lying in bed. About 48% of those polled said they check or update Facebook or Twitter after they’ve gotten into bed at night and/or before they get out of bed in the morning. That number jumps to 76% for the 25-and-younger set, with a whopping 19% of those millennials saying they also check in whenever they wake up during the night.”

Okay … not shocking. However,…

AdAge.com says if you’re younger than 25, one in 10 of you would respond to a text message during sex.

Luckily, some of us get wiser with age as AdAge said that only 6 % of the older 25-plus respondents said they’d respond to a text during sex.

What could possibly be that important?

Stress = Sex Killer

The kids, the job, the house, the bills… there are many factors that diminish the enjoyment of sexual activity for adults. A recent survey by America’s number one source for all things erotic, Adam & Eve (http://adamandeve.com/news), found that “stress” is the number one reason people aren’t enjoying sex as much as they’d like.

According to the latest results from Adam & Eve’s “Great American Sex Survey,” which asked over 1,000 American adults about their most intimate sexual behaviors, more than 46% of the respondents listed “stress” as the biggest reason nothing is happening in the bedroom. Next highest on the list as mood killers were kids (30%), boredom with routine (25.8%), and health problems (22%), in that order.

The lowest selected factors were lack of sexual knowledge (6%) and partner’s physical appearance (6.8%). And 17% of the respondents said they always fully enjoyed sexual activity.

Chad Davis, Marketing Director for Adam & Eve, feels the uncertainly of today’s economy plays a big role in the findings. “Of course Americans are stressed,” says Davis. “But studies show a healthy sex life can alleviate a great deal of that tension. Adam & Eve is here to help make that happen.”

The web-based survey, conducted by Cvent, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices. For more information about Adam & Eve, visit their website at http://www.adamandeve.com/news.

New Survey Shows More Women Having Wilder Sex, Watching Porn

A new survey reveals more women are having wilder sex and watching porn.

The survey, done by the English Netmums website, found three-quarters of women having less sex because of longer work hours, but when they do have sex, they’re much more adventurous when compared to last year’s survey, TheSun.co.uk reported.

The study shows 76 percent of women use porn, that’s a 10 percent rise from last year’s survey of women who admitted watching porn with their partners.

The most popular format is online porn, which is watched by 61 percent of couples.

Just one couple in 20 looks at magazines, while 18 percent watch porn DVD’s.

The survey of 4,200 women also revealed four in five women like to dress up and indulge in role play.

A French maid uniform is used by 42 percent of women, followed by nurses uniform, while 16 percent of couples like the policewoman uniform.

More than half of the women said they use sex toys in the bedroom to add excitement.

“Our survey shows they are taking control in the bedroom,” Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said. “They know what to do to get their sex lives back on track and are not afraid to experiment and introduce new methods to spice things up.”

“During this age of multi-tasking, when we all wish there were 25 hours in a day, at least women are going after quality sex when they are having it,” Katy Zvolerin, Adam & Eve’s public relations director said. “That women are willing to experiment more and become more adventurous says a lot. We are finding that themed lingerie, costumes and toys are much more popular than in years past, and a great way to add fun in the bedroom.”

Last year’s survey showed more than half weren’t happy with their sex life, but this year more than 60 percent claimed to enjoy a fulfilling sex life.

Boning much?

Every month leading sex toy retailer Adam & Eve publishes a survey of 1,000 American adults about their sexual habits.

This month the question was “How Often Are YOU Having Sex?”

According to the latest results from Adam & Eve’s “Great American Sex Survey,” over one-third of the respondents (33%) said they are pounding once or twice a week! (Not bad!) The next largest group (22.7%) said they have sex only one to three times a month. (*yawn*)

4.8% of the adults surveyed said they enjoyed sex five to six times a week. Now that’s a busy schedule. The real freaks Around 3%  said they get it on once or more than once a day. I endorse this! Sex should be a part of any well-balanced diet.

The third highest level of respondents (19%) reported they had sex three to four times a week.

The next highest group (17%) said they had sex “seldom” or “never.” Dang … I would reevaluate my priorities.

High fidelity

With the recent media storm surrounding pro golf star Tiger Woods’ infidelity, novelty manufacturer and retailer Adam & Evesexsurvey conducted a study asking more than 1,000 U.S. adults their opinion on swapping partners.

According to Adam & Eve’s latest “Great American Sex Survey,” 62 percent of the respondents said they’d never even thought about swapping partners.

Of the 38 percent of respondents who admitted they have thought about swapping partners, the majority (64 percent) said it was simply because they wanted to try something naughty or taboo.

The next largest group of respondents (27 percent) said they had thought about it because they were excited by the idea of being with someone new. Nearly the same amount —23.5 percent — said it was because they were physically attracted to another person.

Eight and a half percent of the respondents said they thought about swapping partners because they were bored with their current partner.

“It’s interesting to note the differentiation between actually swapping and thinking of swapping,” said Katy Zvolerin, Adam & Eve director of public relations. “Most people we surveyed said they’d never even thought about it, but American adults have an active imagination with all things sexual. For those considering swapping, Adam & Eve has numerous products available that might open up that channel of communication.”

Every month, Adam & Eve, in partnership with web survey software company Cvent Inc., release results from surveys determining the sexual practices of U.S. participants.
